Our Team

As a professional therapist, I will provide you with the highest level of professional skills within the scope of my training and experience. I have earned both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and a Master of Science Degree in General Counseling from Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL. I am licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor by the State of Alabama and as a National Certified Counselor by the National Board of Certified Counselors. I have over 15 years of clinical experience in treating adolescents, adults and families. Although other treatment approaches are used depending on the person or condition, my counseling practice is primarily cognitive-behavior therapy for most conditions. When it is necessary, referrals to other sources of services and/ or treatment (medical, addiction, or vocational rehabilitation) may be recommended.

The existential approach is one of the theories that help guide my counseling perspective when working with a client. A premise of existential perspective is assisting an individual in developing a sense of belief in his or her existence while conducting interventions that assist him or her in resolving an internal conflict. Another therapeutic approach I would implement is choice therapy. One goal of choice therapy is to help the client gain control over his or her own life and reconnect with significant people. From the choice perspective, relationships have been strained by maladapted behaviors either by the client or by people in the client’s circle. . The end goal for the above techniques (existential and choice theory) is to encourage an agreement to practice effective behaviors that promote positive change toward building nurturing and supportive relationships.
